Ora Banda targets third underground gold mine following successful hits

Ora Banda Mining has announced significant gold discoveries at its Golden Pole Lode 1 prospect within the Waihi project in Western Australia’s Eastern Goldfields. The results reveal high-grade gold hits, including a standout three-meter section with a grade of 44 grams per tonne from a depth of just 50 meters. Additional notable intercepts include a two-meter section grading 48.2 g/t gold and a seven-meter hit grading 16.9 g/t, underscoring the prospect’s mining potential. This successful drilling campaign, which included 22 holes, aimed to validate mineralization beneath historical workings and extend the known resource. Following these results, Ora Banda plans to integrate this data into an updated resource and ore reserve estimate, with expectations for further development of the Waihi project as a potential third underground mine.

Why It Matters

The discoveries at Waihi are significant for Ora Banda Mining as they enhance the company’s resource base, currently standing at 3.3 million ounces of gold. The successful drilling program builds on previous efforts, targeting underexplored areas of the Golden Pole Lode, which historical operators inadequately tested. The company’s financial position is also strong, with $76.3 million in free cash flow from its Davyhurst assets and $231.7 million in cash reserves, positioning it well to capitalize on its exploration successes. As the mining industry continues to focus on gold, these developments may contribute to increased production capabilities and economic impact in the region.
