Lebanon president declares country is no longer a pawn in Israel ceasefire

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun declared that Lebanon will no longer be a battleground for external conflicts, following the announcement of a 10-day ceasefire with Israel. In a televised address, Aoun emphasized the need for permanent agreements to safeguard Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. He expressed gratitude to international allies, including U.S. President Donald Trump and Saudi Arabia, while reaffirming that any negotiations would not compromise the nation’s rights. Despite the truce, Israeli forces remain in southern Lebanon, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stating that troop withdrawal will not occur during this period.
