World Athletics denies 11 athlete transfer requests to Turkiye

A World Athletics panel has rejected 11 allegiance transfer requests to Turkiye from athletes, including five Kenyans, four Jamaicans, and two others from Nigeria and Russia. The panel cited a “coordinated recruitment strategy” by the Turkish government to attract athletes with lucrative contracts, which it believes undermines eligibility rules. While the refusals prevent these athletes from representing Turkiye, they can still compete in personal or club events within the country.
