A Texas man, Daniel Moreno-Gama, has been charged with allegedly traveling to California to throw a Molotov cocktail at the home of OpenAI CEO Sam Altman. Surveillance footage reportedly captured Moreno-Gama outside Altman’s San Francisco residence at around 4 a.m. Friday, where he threw an incendiary device that ignited a fire on an exterior gate. Fortunately, no injuries occurred during the incident. Authorities apprehended him about an hour later near OpenAI’s headquarters, where he was allegedly threatening to burn down the building and was found with kerosene in his backpack. Federal prosecutors revealed that Moreno-Gama had expressed anti-AI-executive sentiments in a document discovered during the investigation. Additionally, on the following Sunday, two individuals were arrested for allegedly firing shots at Altman’s house.
