Drone strike kills 10 at Sudan hospital, says medical charity

Two strikes on Al Jabalain Hospital in White Nile State hit an operating theatre and a maternity ward, resulting in at least 10 fatalities, including seven medical staff, according to medical charity Doctors Without Borders (MSF). The assault, reportedly carried out by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), occurred during a children’s immunization campaign. This attack is part of a series targeting healthcare facilities in Sudan amid the ongoing war between the army and the RSF, displacing more people and worsening the already deteriorating health sector in the country.

Why It Matters

The drone attack on Al Jabalain Hospital in Sudan is a tragic example of the escalating violence targeting healthcare facilities and civilians in the war-torn nation. With over 200 attacks on healthcare facilities since the conflict began, the repeated assaults are further straining the already fragile healthcare system. The condemnation of the attack by local rights groups and calls for designating the RSF as a terrorist organization highlight the urgent need to protect civilians and healthcare workers in Sudan.
