Two civil society leaders, Ben Jamal and Chris Nineham, were found guilty in the UK of violating protest guidelines during a pro-Palestine demonstration in January 2025. The ruling has been criticized by Human Rights Watch as a political move to suppress dissent, highlighting concerns over the government’s use of anti-protest laws. Jamal, director of the Palestine Solidarity Campaign, was also convicted of inciting others to breach police conditions. Protests are expected to continue amid tensions surrounding the ongoing support for Palestine.
