Anthropic is suing the U.S. Defense Department after it designated the AI company as a national security supply chain risk due to its refusal to remove safety guardrails from its Claude AI model. The Pentagon’s actions, including a recent ban on the company’s technology, have been labeled by Anthropic as unlawful retaliation for its stance on AI safety. The case will be heard by U.S. District Judge Rita Lin, who will decide if the administration’s actions constitute a violation of free speech and due process rights.
