Melissa Bean, the former congresswoman for Illinois’ 8th District, has won the Democratic primary to reclaim her seat from retiring Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi, who is running for Senate. Bean entered the race with a significant fundraising lead and previously held the seat from 2005 to 2011. She will face the Republican primary winner in November, with the district leaning Democrat. Other candidates included IT consultant Junaid Ahmed and former Krishnamoorthi aide Yasmeen Bankole.
