Tehran has raised concerns about extensive damage to its cultural and historic sites due to the US-Israel war on Iran. At least 56 museums and monuments have been affected, including the Golestan Palace in Tehran. The Ministry of Cultural Heritage cited violations of international law, with UNESCO confirming damage to key sites like Naqsh-e Jahan Square and Chehel Sotoun Palace in Isfahan. Past conflicts in the Middle East, such as the 2003 Iraq invasion and ISIL’s destruction of Palmyra, have also ravaged cultural heritage.
