The Israel Defense Forces announced the deaths of two senior Iranian leaders in airstrikes in Tehran, including Gholamreza Soleimani, commander of the Basij paramilitary force, and Ali Larijani, head of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council. Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz stated that these actions were part of a strategy to target Iran’s leadership, and he confirmed that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had ordered the strikes. The IDF described Soleimani’s killing as a significant blow to Iran’s security apparatus, citing his role in suppressing anti-government protests.
