A mother and her daughter were rescued after becoming trapped in waist-deep quicksand at Southend’s Three Shells Lagoon. The incident occurred when the girl, playing in the sand, suddenly sank as the tide came in, prompting her mother to rush in and get stuck as well. Bystanders, including staff from the nearby Adventure Island amusement park, responded quickly, using a rope to pull them free. No injuries were reported, and the area has since been marked with warning signs.
