Rabbi attributes training to lifesaving response in synagogue attack

Rabbi Josh Bennett of Temple Israel in West Bloomfield, Michigan, credited the synagogue’s security training for preventing a potentially worse tragedy during an attack where a man drove his vehicle into the building. The suspect, Ayman Mohamad Ghazali, was shot and killed by security after being found with a rifle and explosives. All 140 students at the early childhood center were safely evacuated, and the community is focusing on mental health support for staff while the FBI investigates the incident as a targeted act of violence against the Jewish community.
