Israeli soldiers acquitted in sexual assault case involving Palestinian prisoner

Benjamin Netanyahu praised the decision to drop charges against five Israeli soldiers accused of sexually assaulting a Palestinian prisoner at Sde Teiman military prison, a facility notorious for detainee abuse during the ongoing conflict in Gaza. The military stated the video evidence was insufficient for a conviction and noted the alleged victim’s release to Gaza complicated the case. Critics argue this outcome reflects systemic impunity for abuses against Palestinians, a claim intensified since the war began.
