Motorway closed after truck carrying dog food catches fire

A Mainfreight truck caught fire on Auckland’s northern motorway early this morning, resulting in the closure of northbound lanes between the Silverdale off-ramp and the Grand Drive off-ramp. The fire sent pallets of dog kibble up in smoke, and roading crews are still working to clear the cargo nearly six hours later. The affected lanes are expected to reopen later this morning.
