AI robot can self-repair and evolve after being disassembled

Engineers at Northwestern University have developed AI-powered robots, termed ‘legged metamachines’, capable of evolving, self-reconfiguring, and recovering from damage. These modular robots consist of individual units that can move independently or combine for greater agility, allowing them to mimic movements of various animals. Utilizing evolutionary algorithms, the robots can adapt to unpredictable environments, making them resilient in the face of damage.
