South Lyon East honors Aliah Coppock with district title dedication

The South Lyon East girls basketball team celebrated its first district championship in 11 years with a 52-45 victory over Northville on March 6. Senior guard Aliah Coppock, who is recovering from a serious knee injury, watched from her wheelchair but was eventually brought to the court by an assistant coach to join her teammates in the celebration. Despite missing Coppock, who was a key player, the Cougars (23-1) achieved their best season ever, winning both the Lakes Valley Conference and district titles.
