A 22-year-old Melbourne man, Aidan Becker, was fatally stabbed while protecting a 14-year-old boy from an armed robbery at Mernda station. Becker intervened when four teenagers attacked the boy, and although he tried to escort the victim to safety, he was pursued and assaulted with a machete. Three males, aged 16, 17, and 18, have been charged with murder and armed robbery, while another 17-year-old involved is in hospital under police guard.
