Echinus Geyser, the largest acidic geyser in the world, has resumed erupting in Yellowstone National Park after more than five years of dormancy. Located in the Norris Geyser Basin, Echinus is known for its unique rock formations and red coloration due to its acidic water, which is less potent than that of other geysers. Following sporadic activity since 2010, the geyser began showing consistent eruptions in February 2026, with significant bursts noted in mid-February. However, experts caution that sustained eruptions into the summer are uncertain.
