Hong Kong company criticizes search of Panama Canal port offices

Authorities in Panama have searched and removed property from a subsidiary of CK Hutchison, amid tensions between the US and China over control of the Panama Canal. The Panama Ports Company, part of the Hong Kong conglomerate, criticized the government for its actions, which come after the Supreme Court annulled deals giving the company control over two canal ports. China has condemned the seizure of the ports and warned Panama to “be careful” in its decisions.
