Metal detectorists in western Wales discovered two Roman-era lead ingots, the first of their kind in the region. Found on a farm in Ceredigion, these ingots, dating back to AD 87, were used for making tools and weapons. Museum curator Carrie Canham noted that Ceredigion’s mineral wealth attracted Roman conquest. The ingots will be displayed in a new archaeology gallery at Amgueddfa Ceredigion museum set to open in spring 2027.
