Carney government states India threat is resolved, Sikh activists disagree

A senior Canadian official has indicated that the government believes India has stopped its efforts at transnational repression in Canada, ahead of Prime Minister Mark Carney’s trade mission to India. While the official expressed confidence in the absence of Indian interference, Sikh activists in Canada raised concerns about ongoing threats to their safety, particularly following the assassination of activist Hardeep Singh Nijjar. Vancouver police recently issued a duty to warn letter to Sikh activist Moninder Singh, highlighting continued risks within the community.
