Gov. Bill Lee signs law allowing one-time transfers for Tennessee high school athletes

Gov. Bill Lee has signed Senate Bill 16, allowing Tennessee high school athletes to gain immediate eligibility after a single transfer, effective July 1. The law permits students in grades 6-12 to transfer once without a required change of address, provided it occurs during summer break. The TSSAA will revise its bylaws to accommodate this rule, which marks a significant shift from previous transfer regulations that required specific justifications for moves.
