Reo Te Whetu Marama has been sentenced for the murder of Mary Benedito, whom he attacked in a hotel hallway in November 2021 while their baby was nearby. The Brisbane Supreme Court described his actions as “unjustifiable” and driven by a need for control. Marama, 39, pleaded guilty and has a history of domestic violence, including previous assaults on partners.
