Changes to UK Passport Rules for Dual Citizens in Two Days
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Starting February 25, British dual nationals must enter the UK on a British passport or obtain a costly certificate of entitlement, as new Home Office rules require an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) for non-visa country visitors. This change means dual citizens could be denied entry without proper documentation, despite being exempt from the ETA. Airlines may accept alternative proof of citizenship but have the right to refuse travelers lacking correct documents. Irish citizens remain unaffected by these changes due to the Common Travel Area agreement.
