Police Dispute Virginia Tech Professor’s Hate Crime Allegation
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

A Virginia Tech professor, Dr. Onwubiko Agozino, filed a police complaint against several White juveniles for alleged hate crimes after they stopped in front of his home and played rap music while shoveling snow from their truck. However, the Christiansburg Police Department found no evidence of racial bias or criminal intent, stating the group was attending an organized function. Agozino expressed concern that the police’s conclusion could embolden the juveniles, despite their lack of intent. He appreciated police support and increased patrols near his home.
