Investigators are using a “signal sniffer” to search for Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of “Today” show co-host Savannah Guthrie, who went missing on February 1 in Tucson, Arizona. The device detects signals from her pacemaker, which is equipped with Bluetooth Low Energy technology, enabling it to transmit its location every few minutes. A helicopter is currently being used to expand the search area, although drones could enhance efficiency. However, law enforcement lacks a substantial fleet of drones, which could prolong the search process.
