Israel has decided to resume the land registration process in the occupied West Bank for the first time since 1967, allowing for the dispossession and displacement of Palestinians, according to Israeli rights groups. The decision, approved by far-right ministers, aims to further Israeli settlement expansion and solidify the apartheid regime by making it difficult for Palestinians to prove land ownership. The move, which has been compared to full annexation, has already resulted in the expropriation of Palestinian land in East Jerusalem. Despite opposition from local human rights groups and a rejection by Israel’s Supreme Court, the government continues to push forward with the process, in violation of international law.
