Growth of Social Work and Engineering Degrees in Australian Universities

Preliminary data from the Department of Education reveals a record number of Australian students attending university, with applications for undergraduate programs rising 4.6% and offers increasing by 2.5% compared to last year. Social work, engineering, science, teaching, and nursing are among the disciplines seeing the most significant growth. Education Minister Jason Clare emphasized the importance of expanding access to tertiary education to meet future workforce needs. An additional 16,000 Commonwealth-supported places are expected to be available in 2027.
