Bin Shao, a 56-year-old bus driver from Flushing, New York, has been charged with second-degree manslaughter and criminally negligent homicide following a deadly tour bus crash in August that killed five people. The bus, operated by M&Y Tour Inc., lost control while traveling at high speed on the New York Thruway, with 54 passengers onboard, primarily of Indian, Chinese, and Filipino descent. District Attorney Kevin Finnell stated there was no evidence of alcohol impairment, and bail has been set at $100,000. Shao pleaded not guilty and is scheduled for a court appearance on March 9.
