Deadly Shooting at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School

On February 10, 2026, a shooting at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School in British Columbia resulted in the deaths of a teacher and five students, with the suspected shooter, 18-year-old Jesse Van Rootselaar, also deceased from a self-inflicted wound. Chaos ensued as the school went into lockdown, and emergency alerts were issued. Two additional victims, Van Rootselaar’s mother and brother, were found dead at their home.
