Egypt condemns attacks on aid convoys in Sudan

Egypt condemned recent attacks on aid convoys in Sudan as a serious breach of international humanitarian law, attributing the incidents to the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF). The Egyptian Foreign Ministry emphasized that these attacks exacerbate the humanitarian crisis in Sudan, which is already facing rising displacement and food insecurity. On Saturday, the Sudanese government reported casualties from an RSF drone strike on a World Food Program convoy and an attack on a vehicle carrying displaced individuals. The ongoing conflict between the Sudanese army and the RSF, which began in April 2023, has resulted in thousands of deaths and millions displaced.
