Trump’s demands create uncertainty for talks with Iran in Oman.

The Trump administration’s talks with Iran in Muscat, Oman, come amidst maximalist demands including curbing Iran’s nuclear and ballistic missile programs and ending support for regional proxies, as well as pressure from anti-government protests, military threats, and sanctions. Uncertainty surrounds the US strategy, characterized by unpredictability and shifting objectives, with unclear intentions for the talks and potential risks of military escalation or economic fallout. The administration’s hardline stance, supported by officials like Marco Rubio, may complicate negotiations and hinder any perceived concessions to Iran amid ongoing tensions and challenges.
