Over 170 killed in Nigeria Islamist attack
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

At least 170 people were killed by gunmen in Nigeria in one of the deadliest attacks this year. The attackers demanded villagers embrace Sharia law, resulting in residents being rounded up, bound, and executed. Authorities are searching for survivors in the village while the police and military conduct a search-and-rescue operation. The central region of Kwara has been increasingly targeted by gunmen, with recent incidents including the kidnapping of churchgoers and American forces striking terrorist targets in response to President Trump’s accusations of failing to protect Christians.
