Islamabad, Pakistan – Balochistan, Pakistan’s largest and poorest province, has faced a long-standing conflict with the state since its accession in 1948, following partition. Recent escalations, led by the Baloch Liberation Army, resulted in over 30 civilian deaths and 150 fighter casualties during coordinated attacks. The conflict, rooted in historical grievances and political exclusion, has seen cycles of rebellion and military response, particularly intensifying since the 1970s. Critics argue that the state exploits Balochistan’s resources while local communities remain marginalized.
