Five-year-old Liam Conejo Ramos and his father, Adrian Alexander Conejo Ramos, have been released from ICE custody following a court order by U.S. District Judge Fred Biery. The family, originally from Ecuador, was detained in Minnesota earlier this month and held at the Dilley ICE detention center in Texas. Rep. Joaquin Castro helped escort them back to Minnesota after their release. The Department of Homeland Security has disputed claims regarding the family’s use of an asylum-seeking app and has labeled Liam’s father an “illegal alien.”
