Rafah Border Reopens for Limited Crossings Between Gaza and Egypt
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The Rafah border crossing between Gaza and Egypt is reopening after nearly two years of closure as part of a US-brokered ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. Travel will initially allow limited movement, with only 150 individuals permitted to cross daily, primarily for medical reasons. A European Union mission will supervise the crossings, but the process may be slow, with concerns that some patients may not survive long enough to receive treatment. The reopening follows recent Israeli airstrikes that resulted in numerous casualties in Gaza.
