As of Friday, around 79,000 Mississippians were without power following a severe winter storm, with Entergy restoring power to 75% of affected customers. The storm, deemed the worst since 1994, has led to significant disruptions, including the closure of the University of Mississippi until Feb. 8. State officials are preparing a major disaster declaration request to the White House.
