A small plane experienced a mid-air emergency when smoke filled the cockpit but landed safely at Tauranga Airport around 12:45 PM. Fire and Emergency confirmed there were no signs of fire and no injuries reported. Police were also present at the scene but have since been stood down. An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the smoke.
