A pair of astronomers at the European Space Agency developed an AI neural network called AnomalyMatch, which analyzed nearly 100 million space images in just two and a half days, identifying 1,400 anomalies. Trained on the Hubble Legacy Archive, the AI helped discover over 800 previously undocumented objects, including merging galaxies and gravitational lenses. Its success demonstrates the potential of AI to enhance research on large datasets. Gómez emphasized its value in maximizing scientific output from the Hubble archive.
