The Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) has unveiled a 10-year strategic plan, Team Canada 2035, aimed at enhancing Canada’s status in the sports world with over $500 million in private investment. The initiative focuses on three pillars: achieving a top-five medal count at the Olympics, engaging one million more youth in organized sports, and promoting climate action. COC CEO David Shoemaker highlighted the plan’s potential to direct funding effectively despite existing gaps in the sport system. Collaboration with national sport organizations will be crucial for implementing innovative supports and fostering inclusivity in athletics.
