Venezuela releases 104 political prisoners, confirmed by rights group

Authorities in Venezuela have released over 100 political prisoners, including a human rights lawyer and a communications student, according to Caracas-based Foro Penal. Among those freed is lawyer Kennedy Tejeda, who was imprisoned in 2024 after providing legal assistance to political prisoners. Foro Penal’s executive director, Alfredo Romero, confirmed Tejeda’s release and stated that more releases are being verified. Venezuelan acting President Delcy Rodriguez has promised to release more detainees, marking a new political era allowing greater diversity.
