A power warning for Newfoundland residents has been lifted, with a power watch now in place due to expected extreme cold. This warning was issued when the Bay d’Espoir hydroelectric plant went offline because of frazil ice blocking its intake pipes. Six of the seven generator units are now operational following successful ice removal. Some municipalities, including Mount Pearl, plan to reopen facilities on Monday.
