Storm Ingrid Damages Pier and Sea Wall in the UK

Strong winds and heavy rain from Storm Ingrid have caused significant damage in Devon and Cornwall, notably washing away part of the historic Grand Pier in Teignmouth, built between 1865 and 1867. The storm led to the suspension of railway services between Exeter St Davids and Plymouth due to a collapsed sea wall at Dawlish. The Met Office issued yellow weather warnings for the region, with forecasts of 60mph gusts and up to 1.6 inches of rain, raising concerns about flooding. Residents have been advised to take precautions as potential flooding risks persist in parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland.
