Poundland has undergone a significant restructuring, closing nearly 150 stores and laying off 2,200 staff as part of a plan approved by the High Court last year. The discount retailer, sold to Gordon Brothers for £1, has reduced its store count to 651 and closed two warehouses. Despite these changes, managing director Barry Williams noted that further improvements are needed to align offerings and pricing with customer demands. The chain will relaunch its clothing line, Pep&Co, with most items priced at £10 or less.
