Coromandel Road Access Restoration After Slips and Flooding
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Heavy rainfall has left parts of the Coromandel Peninsula isolated and partially submerged, prompting Thames-Coromandel Deputy Mayor John Grant to discuss road resilience improvements with NZ Transport Agency. Local firefighters have described the flooding as the worst in 30 years, surpassing conditions seen during Cyclone Gabrielle. Several roads remain closed due to flooding and landslips, including State Highway 25A, which is expected to reopen later today. Efforts are underway to restore access to affected towns and settlements.
