Sexual Assault Survivor Seeks Accountability After Police Remarks
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

An Ontario woman, a sexual assault survivor, is ending her relationship with the Ontario Police College (OPC) after receiving anonymous comments from officers that she found humiliating. She has been sharing her experiences at OPC training sessions to help improve police understanding of sexual assault cases but feels dismissed and judged by the officers’ remarks, which included derogatory assumptions about her mental health. Despite raising her concerns four months ago, she has not received answers about the officers’ roles in investigations. Experts warn that such biases among police could undermine the integrity of sexual assault investigations.
