Syrian army progresses towards Raqqa: Latest update.

The Syrian army is advancing towards Raqqa, the stronghold of the United States-trained, Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), after capturing Tabqa and its military airport. Government forces seized the Euphrates Dam and have amassed heavy military equipment in Raqqa governorate. Fighting erupted in Aleppo after talks to integrate Kurdish fighters into the national army stalled, heightening conflict in northern Syria. The Syrian army’s control of key areas in northeastern Syria, including oilfields and dams, has led to celebrations among Arab civilians and raised questions about the SDF’s integration into the Syrian state.
