Iran’s Internet Shutdown Lasts Record Length

Iran is experiencing one of its longest internet shutdowns, affecting over 92 million people for more than 170 hours amid ongoing anti-government protests. This disruption is the third longest recorded, following shutdowns in Sudan and Mauritania. According to experts, Iran’s internet blackouts are among the most comprehensive globally, with the current incident potentially ranking among the top 10 longest shutdowns in history. The previous longest outages were 163 hours in 2019 and 160 hours in 2025.
