Somalia has cut ties with the UAE, cancelling agreements on port operations and security due to perceived actions that threaten its unity and sovereignty. This decision follows allegations that the UAE facilitated Israel’s recognition of Somaliland, a self-declared independent region. The move has sparked tensions, particularly as Puntland and Jubaland, UAE-aligned states, may not comply with the central government’s directive. Somaliland’s officials have openly dismissed Mogadishu’s authority and reaffirmed their partnership with the UAE.
