Yemeni separatists announce disbanding of STC in Riyadh

The STC, backed by the UAE, launched an offensive against Yemeni gov’t troops in December. The STC Secretary-General announced its dissolution in Saudi Arabia, but a spokesman dismissed the decision as “ridiculous.” Tensions between Saudi Arabia and the UAE have escalated, with the STC leader fleeing to the UAE. Saudi Arabia praised the dissolution as a positive step towards resolving the southern Yemen issue.
